Introduction --- I Refuse To Be Broke

I got sick and tired of being broke and disgusted. I was living from paycheck to paycheck. Sometimes I even had to get payday loans to survive financially. There were times when I was writing checks for food and gas because I did not have any money in my bank account and I was hoping it would not reach the bank before payday. I became frustrated with being a single parent and raising my child alone. The court took my child support payments away from me. I had jobs that were not meeting all of my financial needs. I did not have any job stability. I always had to start a new job every year. I made many bad decisions in the past that affects my finances. I got into credit cards debt and the debts became higher than my income. I could not enjoy my paycheck because all my money went on bills. I was aggravated with receiving threatening telephone calls from bill collectors when I could not pay my bills. I did not want to live like this any longer and I began to pray to God to deliver me from this financial oppression. I asked God how I could get out of debt and achieve financial prosperity for the rest of my life. Financial prosperity is living a debt-free life. It is the ability to give your money freely and believe that God will never let you run out of money. It is also using your money to bless others and not becoming a prisoner to money. It is about being a good steward of your money. God gave me these biblical principles to get out of debt and to achieve financial prosperity for my life. God heard your cries, God instructed me to write a book to share these biblical principles to deliver you out of the "land of debt" and learn how to possess the "land of more than enough." You do not have to be under financial oppression any longer. God has prepared a way for you to come out of debt and live a victorious life in your finances. It is your choice to live a life bound by debt or to live a debt-free life. You can continue to put bandages on your debts by working two jobs, getting debt consolidation loans, and joining consumer credit counseling, or you can turn to God to be healed completely in your finances.
The biblical principles to get out of debt and achieve financial prosperity for the rest of your life are giving your tithes and offerings to God with a willing heart; obeying God's instructions;speaking and believing the word of God; using the wisdom of God in your finances; changing the way you think about your finances; using your gifts; and guarding your heart from greed, pride, idolatry, and disobedience. God showed me that these biblical principles worked in the lives of Abraham, Solomon, Jacob, Daniel, Isaac, and Joseph. If He can bless these men of God with great wealth, He can bless you, too. God wants His people to have an abundant life here on Earth. You do not have to wait until you get to heaven. In III John 1:2 it says,"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prosper." God is able to change your financial circumstances around and cause you to excel in your finances by using these biblical principles.

Foreword -- I Refuse To Be Broke

As the pastor of a growing urban church in Southwest Louisiana, I found that the most important lesson I can teach God's people is BALANCE! Financial prosperity must be balanced with all of the other important doctrines of the Bible.

I Refuse to be Broke is the by-product of one of the faithful members of my congregation who is sharing the story of her journey through difficult financial times. She describes the lessons God has taught her in the process of trying to do God's will.
